H&K have to be better to compete because there are as many Parisians who will show the same snobbery about their local boys as I just have about my London ones. Hilditch and Key shirts are, in my view, somewhat higher quality than Lewin or Thomas Pink, and up there with Turnbull and Asser (my second choice, and one I will visit during the sales.) I can’t comment on the quality of Charvet shirts, but were I in Paris needing a shirt or four, I’d certainly look there…. But I can only assume that Mr Lagerfeld considers them slightly inferior, perhaps because of complacency?
